About Soun

The Women’s Studies Network is a network that operates under the umbrella of the International Network for the Study of Arab Societies, bringing together scientific and research institutions concerned with Arab women’s issues, with the aim of achieving a common understanding of their conditions, and presenting possible scientific approaches and exits to raise their status and achieve the development process in Arab societies. Through this network, we seek to enhance networking between Arab scientific institutions specialized in the field of women, through discussion, dialogue and debate on the most prominent approaches and problems affecting Arab women’s issues.

Commitment to scientific objectivity in knowledge exchange, away from any extremist ideological, political, or racist backgrounds.
Cooperation, networking and coordination between partners without exclusion or discrimination.

Vision

Promoting exchange and exchange of knowledge between scientific institutions working in the field of women, to contribute to the development of Arab feminist knowledge production.

Mission

The network seeks to translate its vision by working on a set of goals:

  • Forming a comprehensive scientific platform for institutions and research centers specialized in the field of women
  • Promoting exchange and exchange of knowledge between scientific institutions and research centers working in the field of women.
  • Monitoring the cognitive debate on feminist writings and opening the door to continuous criticism, review and evaluation.
  • Following up on women’s societal struggles at the field level, and opening the way for knowledge exchange between the scientific community specialized in women’s studies and organizations active in this field.
  • Contributing to empowering master’s and doctoral students with scientific knowledge based on gender.
  • Holding conferences, seminars and workshops specialized in women’s issues.
  • Preparing comparative studies between Arab countries on common issues affecting Arab women.
