Within the same approach that the network proposes to address the issues of Arab youth, the International Network for the Study of Arab Societies held the international and virtual scientific symposium on “Youth and Development in the Arab World,” in partnership with the Arab Educational and Scientific Organization – ALECSO, on September 29, 2020. This symposium comes in the context of The partnership relationship between the network and ALECSO, which includes a series of scientific seminars.
The symposium addressed the concept of youth as a social group that has a subculture that differs from the culture of adults, and is in constant conflict with them to achieve its independence and test its youthful experience. The participants focused on the crucial challenges faced by young people in Arab societies, especially in light of the marginalization, exclusion and parasitism that Arab youth experience. The symposium concluded with the necessity of investing in youth’s energies and creative potential by creating a safe, stimulating climate that allows their effective participation through which development and advancement of our Arab societies can be achieved.
